A policeman who is on interdiction and working as a security guard is in serious condition in the KHMH tonight after being stabbed today.

Roman Canul was working at Boundary store in Orange Walk town when Eckorth Montejo was going to pay for a shoe. But Montejo told the clerk he didn't have any money. The clerk instructed Canul to take away the shoe. But Montejo grabbed the shoe, and hit the security guard with it.

Canul chased him and that's when Montero allegedly stabbed him multiple times to the leg, midsection and chest. Canul was transported to Belize City for emergency surgery this afternoon.

He is under interdiction for handling stolen goods.
