posted (May 31, 2010)
One month and two days ago after being hospitalized for a gunshot to the head from a police shotgun, today Steven Buckley waited in front of the KHMH to be picked up. His friend and boss Marlon Meyers helped him into the same truck that he was shot in that night for the ride home into an uncertain future:

Jules Vasquez
"What's your status right now?"

Steven Buckley
"I am getting around. Thank the good Lord."

Jules Vasquez
"What problems are you still having?"

Steven Buckley
"I still have problem with my feet."

Jules Vasquez
"How is your vision?"

Steven Buckley
"I can see well."

Jules Vasquez
"I see you still have a bandage on the back of your head. Why is that?"

Steven Buckley
"That is for some swollen areas of my head."

Jules Vasquez
"Now, have they removed all the pellets from your head?"

Steven Buckley
"Yes sir."

Jules Vasquez
"Have they indicated how soon you will be back to normal? Or will you ever be back to normal?"

Steven Buckley
"They say after a while I will be normal."

Jules Vasquez
"Mr. Buckley, you remember anything that happened that night?"

Steven Buckley
"I definitely remember what happened that night."

Jules Vasquez
"What happened that night?"

Steven Buckley
"My partner and I went to get our tools. When we got our tools we met the police officer. He pointed the gun at me and he shot me."

Jules Vasquez
"So, you didn't have a chance to identify yourself?"

Steven Buckley
"I never got any chance to identify myself."

Jules Vasquez
"How many shots did you hear Mr. Buckley?"

Steven Buckley
"Two shots I heard."

Jules Vasquez
"Has anyone apologized to you? Has anyone come and say sorry?"

Steven Buckley
"Nobody came and apologize to me."

Jules Vasquez
"I can't imagine what it's like to be driving around one night, you have just gotten paid and now all these weeks later your life has gone through a complete transition. Do you feel angry?"

Steven Buckley
"Of course I feel angry. Definitely, because they took advantage of me."

Police have given Buckley a commitment that they will assist him.
