Dennis Lopez: A Very Important Prisoner
posted (June 4, 2010)
Last night we told you that 41 year old Police Inspector Dennis Lopez had been charged for shooting Steven Buckley. He was charged with attempted murder and dangerous harm - which are not bail-able offences at the magistrate's court level, so he was remanded. We know also that an attorney filed to the DPP's office to have a bail hearing expedited. But still, he'd have to go to prison until that bail hearing. Or that's the rule....but it seems this 41 year old Inspector was not remanded. Instead he was given VIP treatment and kept in friendly quarters at the Queen Street Police Station - which is contrary to the directive of the court.

We have multiple sources which tell us that up to late this morning, he was still at the Queen Street station in a special room where clients and attorneys meet. But no bail application was heard today so he should now be remanded. This evening police press officer Fitzroy Yearwood told us that he has been remanded.
