posted (June 4, 2010)
A 37 year old man from the Stann Creek District is clinging to life after he and a female friend were involved in a rollover traffic accident on the Southern Highway yesterday afternoon. Ronald Sosa the driver of a Mitsubishi pickup truck lost control of his vehicle at the junction of the Savannah road and Southern Highway as they headed home to the Crustaecean Shrimp Farm where they both live. The pickup rolled over several times before it came to a complete stop. Sosa was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital and later transferred to the KHMH where he underwent surgery this morning for severe head injuries. Seven News spoke with Ronald's brother who told us that the surgeon who conducted the operation says he needs plenty of blood and he needs it now!

Jim McFadzean
"What have the doctors told you about his condition?"

Rudy Sosa
"Right now he is in a stable condition because he just got over surgery and he really needs blood right now. If someone could help us out by donating blood O positive."

Jim McFadzean
"What other injuries had he suffered besides head injuries?"

Rudy Sosa
"That's the only injury he suffered the most and he can't move half of his body, only one arm and one leg."

Jim McFadzean
"What have the doctors said as regards to the prognosis for your brother?"

Rudy Sosa
"Well they say hopefully if we get the blood probably he will be ok and then he will be like normal again. Once his body gets back the blood that he lost during the accident."

Word from the family is that the friend identified only as Maria, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from the Independence Polyclinic. Once again, the family is asking the public for blood donations in the name of Ronald Sosa who is presently at the Intensive Care Unit of the KHMH. The blood type required is O Positive.
