A 19 year old female was shot in Belize City just a short while ago. It happened at around 6:00 at the corner of Lakeview and Vernon streets. The victim has been confirmed as 19 year old Jocelyn Mitchell and she was reportedly shot to the temple. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors tried to save her but she was pronounced dead at 7:40pm.
According to those in the area she was standing at the corner talking to a female friend when a car drove up - the window came down and someone opened fire hitting her in the head.
Upwards of 7 shots were fired - one of them hit her in the temple. That exact same area witnessed a non fatal shooting on Sunday night.
