Another Near-Fatal City Shooting
posted (June 18, 2010)
Yesterday evening started with a vicious murder and 7 hours later by one am - there was another ruthless armed assault in the city. But just as in the first case where a 19 year old woman was shot and really, the shooters were after her brother, in this case, the gunmen shot Colin Lord when they were believed to have been looking for Edward Lord - who is no relation. They were just hanging out at the same house, which is actually Colin's residence.

As Monica Bodden found out, the gunmen unleashed firepower that almost turned the get-together into a wake.

Monica Bodden, Reporting
28 eight year old Colin Lord is tonight clinging to life at the KHMH after he was shot to the back of his head. The incident happened around 1 o'clock this morning on Lavender Street behind the St. Martin's area.Colin had just gotten home from work about 30 minutes earlier and was socializing outside his house with a couple friends and family members when two gunmen walked up in the yard and began shooting.

Eyewitnesses say that over 22 shots were fired at the home of Colin Lord. The shattered windows and the gunshot holes in the wall paint a clear picture of the firepower. The victim's sister who wished to appear off camera told us what happened.

Sister
"My two brothers and my sister and two other friends were outside sitting down and like approximately quarter to one two gun men came up and started firing like maybe 21-22 shots. One of them hit my brother in his head and the other hit the other guy that was here in his legs."

Another friend Raymond Andrews was also shot.Today this spot of blood on the walkway in front of Collin's home marked the spot where he fell.

Many believe that Colin Lord was not the target of last night's shooting. In fact they believe that 20 year old Edward Lord - who was accused of killing Junie Balls in 2007 - might have been the actual target. Edward Lord was standing on the street side in front of Colin's house, talking with Colin's sister when shortly after he left, a black car pulled up, two gunmen jumped out, ran in the yard and opened fire.

Sister
"He is nobody that goes around creating problems as a matter of fact I talk more than him he is very quiet. He doesn't trouble anyone; I don't see why they would want him. I think that clearly they wanted someone and they caught my brother. I can't say who specifically it was for you know if it was for him, if it was any retaliation thing like everybody has been saying, I don't know if it's because of that but like I said. clearly I know it wasn't my brother, he has nothing to do with that."

Tonight 28 year old Colin Lord is on life support at the KHMH. Doctors say he has a slim chance at life, but his family believes he is a fighter and they are holding on to hope.

Sister
"He is on life support. he came out of a 6-7 hours surgery. I think the next 72 hours will be critical that's what the doctors say. The bullet went into the back of his head and exited through the front. It damage his cells or whatever in his head. He still has something off the bullet in his head; they can't remove it as yet because his head is swollen. They operated on his head; basically he had just a piece of skin on that side of his head."

Colin Lord has a steady job at Leslie's Imports and in fact had just knocked off form work at 12:30 am. He was shot half an hour later. Doctors say he has a 20% chance of survival.
