One Woman’s Tale Of Woe
posted (June 23, 2010)
A "woman fum fum" - it's referred to jokingly in creole, but for one woman it is very serious business. Housewife Natalie Coleman came to our studio today in tears, fearing for her life after she was viciously attacked yesterday afternoon at the commercial center for no apparent reason.

She told us how she ended up in the hospital getting stitches.

Natalie Coleman
"Yesterday, I went behind the bar and I stand up and talk to my cousin. These girls just come, point up in my face, and curse me, and then she grab a pint and she broke it, and then she cut me behind my hand. Then I grab the girl so she wouldn't cut me, and then the other one come, choke me, and whop me in my head with a pint bottle. A policeman was right there drinking, he saw everything and he didn't do anything. When the thing start, they push me outside and when I went outside the girl cut me on the back of my hand. She got a knife, I don't know who gave her a knife, but she had the knife in my face telling me she would kill me and that I should roll because she would do me something."

Emaun Hyde "Where was your cousin when all of this was happening?"

Natalie Coleman
"Right around the table and she didn't do anything."

Emaun Hyde
"So nobody did anything to help you?"

Natalie Coleman
"Nobody, No Nobody jump in for me. None. Everybody just jumped on the table and watch like it was a bazaar. I could've died in that place. I was on the street so much years and for this to happen to me back here. I get tired of this, I tell you, I get tired. To see a policeman sitting right there and didn't help me, No, No, No, nobody help me mommy, I tell you."

The two women were arrested and today in court, 33 year old Stephanie D'Costa was charged with wounding while 20 year old Holles Haylock was charged with common assault. Both pleaded not guilty, and both were released after meeting bail of $600.00 dollars. Haylock said that she was only trying to part the fight.
