Charged for Killing 19 Year Old Joyce Mitchell
posted (June 24, 2010)
One week ago at this hour, Doctors at the KHMH were frantically trying to save the life of 19 year old Joyce Mitchell after she was shot in the head by gunmen, who reportedly wanted to kill her brother. Today, police say this man 25 year old Daniel Anderson, a fisherman of an Oleander Street address, is the one who did it. He was charged with Mitchell's murder when he appeared today in the number one Magistrate's court and remanded into custody until July 23rd.

Mitchell who lived on Sibun Street, was shot to her temple around Six P.M. on Thursday, June 17th. She was standing at the corner of Lakeview Street and Vernon streets, talking to a female friend when a car drove up and one of the occupants opened fire. She died almost two hours later at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Notably, it's not the first time Mitchell has been charged for murder. In 2007, he was charged with the murder of Dorian Michael and Keira Leslie who were shot and killed in a van near Haulover Bridge at mile 5 on the Northern Highway. The couple was at a gas station on Freetown Road when they were kidnapped and taken in Michael's van to the spot where they were killed.

In June of 2009, Anderson and Edwin "Drive" Flowers were freed of those murder charges when a nolle pros was entered because the main witness could not be located.
