Vehicle Flips Due To Powder
posted (June 24, 2010)
Traffic was backed up this morning at mile 3 on the Western Highway when a truck carrying thousands of bottles of baby powder toppled over in the middle of the road. The truck was turning into the Foam Factory compound to pick up some other items for the Crime Stopper's Sale, when a steering rod in the front end snapped causing it to lose control and careen over unto its side:….

Driver
"We are moving baby powders for the Crime Stoppers this weekend on the twenty seventh at Old Belize and the loads a little heavy, it's baby powder, and a little piece of metal inside broke and flipped it over. "

Monica Bodden
"Any other vehicle was involved?"

Driver
"Nothing, no other vehicle, when he turned it, the box cause it was heavy , like I said there was a rod in front, broke and flipped the truck over from the weight in the front."

Monica Bodden
"No one got injured?"

Driver
"No injuries, no nothing, just a lot of work moving baby powder twice."

Monica Bodden
"About how many baby powders you would say?"

Driver
"Eight hundred boxes of sixteen."

And while the truck never made it, the powder did, as three trucks came to pick it all up. The event is a crime stoppers fund-raising yard sale at which they'll be selling everything from late model SUV's to boxes of pampers. It will be held at Old Belize on Saturday.
