posted (June 24, 2010)
On June seventeenth - 28 year old Colin Lord was shot to the back of his head at his home on Lavender Street behind the Saint Martin's area. Lord who had just gotten home from work was socializing outside his house with a couple friends and family members when two gunmen walked up in the yard and begun shooting. He was caught to the back of the head - And was given a 5 percent change of living by doctors. Well today things are looking a little bit better for his family since that 5% chance has gone up to 60%.

Dr. Joel Cervantes, Neurosurgeon
"Today he has had improvement. After the surgery that was performed on emergency basis yesterday we noticed that the amount of brain swelling in the brain had definitely gone down, he also had some clots in the brain and those clots are starting to disappear to reabsorb. Also we were able to briefly test to see his capacity to breathe and he has at least a 50 percent control as of today to be able to breathe on his own which is a very good sign. His blood has been a little bit on the weak side, we have had to transfuse bloods elements to strengthen his blood and we are hoping that the earliest that we can wake him up from the medical coma would be tomorrow in the morning. He is now at a 60 percent chance of survival."

Monica Bodden
"You care to tell us the extent of the damage that he receive from that gunshot?"

Dr. Joel Cervantes
"It's a lot of damage. It is highly likely that Colin will be able to move the left side of his body; the arm and the leg. He will be paralyzed completely on the left side and the other functions that have to do with the right side of the brains is too early to determine if those are damaged and how damaged they are."

The family of Collin Lord says if anyone would like to assistant him financially with his medical treatment, you can contact them at telephone numbers 621-6200 or 622-1874.
