Our Belizean National Basketball team is set to compete in the Centro basket tournament in the Dominican Republic in July, and they'll be warming up next week in a match against Venezuela right here in Belize. Public Relations for the Belize District Basketball Association, Mark Usher told us more.

"Next week Thursday and Friday we are going to have international basket ball big time playing at the Belize City Center as our own Belize National team gets ready to the central basket completion, the Venezuelan basket ball team will be coming, they will land the Wednesday, next week Wednesday the 30th and the first of two game will be the Thursday at the Belize City Centre. Venezuela has a host of real quality player, in fact Emaun, Venezuela is listed at 23 in the FIBA world ranking so you know that's a really quality team, and of course team Belize will go up against Venezuela the Thursday and
Friday and it's a very critical two games, because what it does for the management and the federation and the player is let them get an idea where they are in there preparation going into this big completion and i do believe that our boys are very well prepared very excellent coaching staff and everything around it, so it's going to be exciting."

"Are you nervous about the games at all?"
Mark Usher
"I am very nervous but I am also excited, I am a basket ball junky, when you here Venezuela coming into town Emaun, you are going to watch some amazing basket ball and of course we have our own supper start, Keith Acosta, Milt Palacio, Kennan Jordon and all those guys, so if anyone don't come to these game they will regret it because they will see some tremendous basket ball playing."

"Who do you think is going to win?"

"Of course it's going to be team Belize, there is no way the Venezuelans are going to come in town and beat us."
The games are scheduled for July 1st and 2nd at the Belize City Center.
