Albert Cleanup Update
posted (June 29, 2010)
In early June we told you how the Crimes Control Council and Sanitation councilor Phillip Willoughby had embarked on an aggressive cleanup campaign in the Albert area.

More than just surface cleaning, the effort was all inclusive - clearing out abandoned lots with rotten houses and over-run with garbage. Well, it continues and we got an update today:

Phillip Willoughby, Deputy Mayor of Belize City
"We have cleaned 39 lots already in the Albert constituency since our commencement date going back 3 weeks ago. I have about 30 plus more lots to go and the project will be completed for the Albert constituency. this project has given us the opportunity to clean the properties, clear the abandoned lots, abandoned home, derelict homes and then we will bill the property owners through the property tax system we have down at the council. We look forward to going into the other constituencies that needs this same type of leg work to be done."

Monica Bodden
"Other young men will get an opportunity to work?"

Phillip Willoughby
"Yes, from the other constituencies yes they will. If there is any abandoned vehicle, abandoned homes if there is new construction going on in your neighborhoods and its blocking up the drain call in to the council and let's rectify it."

There's no word on which divisions it will move to next..
