Fifty three year old Guatemalan national Jose Hernandez Nova, wanted in Guatemala for money laundering and other offences, pleaded guilty to possession of a false document, specifically, a fake Belizean driver's license, when he appeared today in the number six Magistrate's court.
Magistrate Dorothy Flowers fined him One Thousand dollars and ordered him to pay forthwith. Nona paid the fine but because he is wanted by the police in Guatemala, was escorted by Belize police to the Western border and handed over to authorities there. Nona, who reports say was an advisor to the Guatemalan Minister of Defense, was busted with the false driver's license around 3 P.M. on Tuesday, June 29th.
The police conducted a search of the room he was renting at a Hotel in West Landivar, and found the driver's license with his photograph and the name Jose Luis Perez. The license was issued to him on November 13th, 2009....
