A policeman was criminally charged for theft today after he was accused of chain-snatching. 21-year-old accountant at Habet and Habet, Eberto Castellanos told police that on Saturday afternoon, he was standing near Novelo's Terminal at Collet Canal, when Diaz snatched his gold chain.
A passing police mobile saw pulled up to see Castellanos chasing PC Diaz. Police caught up with Diaz who said he had simply found the chain on the street. The cops didn't buy it and he was arrested and charged for theft.
Today in court, Diaz was charged with one count of theft and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He was released on bail of two thousand dollars with an adjournment until August fourth.
