Cops Say Basil Was A Bad Man
posted (July 13, 2010)
Forty two year old Basil Willis a.k.a., "ET", who allegedly jacked a cell phone and wallet from a customer at a Chinese shop, was charged with robbery and wounding when he appeared today in the Number 3 Magistrate's court. Willis pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution objected to bail on the ground that the offence of robbery has become prevalent. Magistrate Kathleen Lewis upheld that objection and remanded Willis into custody until July 30th. The incident occurred on July 10th. The complainant, Juan Villatoro, reported to the police that he was at a Chinese shop at the corner of Cemetery road and Lakeview Street purchasing a telephone card, when he was approached by his assailant who swung a machete at him and cut him on the right side of his head. Villatoro said the machete man demanded that he hand over his cell phone and his wallet and he complied because he feared for his life. Villatoro said his wallet contained his driver's license and other personal documents. The police reported that they retrieved a rusty machete from Willis when they detained him.
