Armed Robber Remanded

Twenty-eight year old Carlos Castro Vasquez, a fisherman, who was released from prison on bail less than two weeks ago, went back to jail today remanded into custody on a charge of robbery with a firearm.

The robbery occurred around 6 am on Friday July 16th. Thirty-five year old Omar Heredia reported to police that he was standing in front of his residence on Eve Street when he was approached by a Mestizo man who was bare-footed. Heredia said the man put a black firearm to the left side of his neck and snatched his $2,000 dollar gold chain from around his neck. Heredia said the man also stole $800.00 from his wallet and his cellphone.

On Monday, July 19th, the police detained Castro Vasquez, but because he had an injury to his face, he was taken to the KHMH where the doctor examined him and classified his injury as wounding. He told the court he was injured when a man struck him with a gun across the face....
