And while those kids at the expressive arts camp are celebrated and recognized, on the flip side of that are those at the Youth Hostel and the Belize Youth Cadet Service Corp.

The facilities are housed in adjoining compounds at mile 21 on the Western highway.

They are kids who have a history of discipline or behavioral problems but they are far from lost causes.

And for the past three weeks 60 of them have been involved in a basketball camp, cosmetology sessions, specialized life skills, drama, dance, jewelry making and community service. Today an open day was held to showcase the youngsters' talents - and 7 news was there.

William Swan, Manager - Belize Youth Cadet Core

William Swan, Manager - Belize Youth Cadet Core
"Well I think it went well and what happen we had brought in some young men, two off the streets which their parents had appeal to us to please take in. I took in some before the time because they were really at risk. I think it was a great achievement for the two side and we became more friendlier because you know young people across different fence and they would throw, but that brought them together and let unite but right now its poor intake with the guys in the streets of Belize and we are appealing to the parents to come and get their son enlisted before something happen and if you notice every day it's the young people that are committing the crimes so right now we are having a heavy intake with the cadet right now to insists with cleaning up the street."

The Camp ends on July 30th.
