posted (August 23, 2010)
Jermaine Matura is accused of the murder of 14 year old Helen Yue, shooting her father and robbing their store. Specifically, he's been charged with Murder, Conspiracy to commit Murder, Attempted Murder, Use of Deadly Means of Harm, Dangerous Harm, Conspiracy to commit Robbery, Robbery and Wounding.

The robbers stole 480 dollars, an apple iPhone and a Nokia phone.

Initially, police said he was 17 and so did his mother, and so it was a family court matter; but by this afternoon it was determine that he was 18 and he was taken to magistrate's court.

He was arraigned in court #5 and remanded into custody until September fifth.

His mother told us that police have the wrong person:...

Lisa Matura, Mother
"I have people who can clarify that he was home babysitting that day when that murder happen and I have people who can clarify the 3 person who ran pass through the areas because 1 of them even stop and wash his face and his foot at her facet. She even had a word with one of them. She already move away. I these days they are killing out the witnesses, what do they expect her to do? Come forward and say yes this and that. She had already moved away, she doesn't live in the city again. I am not saying that my son do not give trouble because he went to jail already. The last time when he went to jail I didn't even go and look for him because he was hanging with the wrong crowd, so I try to teach him a lesson. When he came out back he did not hang around the same crowd again, he doesn't hang out."

Jules Vasquez
"He is charge for murder and a number of other things so he is going up on remand and you know murder; he will stay on remand unless you have an extraordinary attorney and you have money to pay that attorney, he will stay on remand at least a year and maybe a couple years."

Lisa Matura, Mother
"I know that, they already explain that to me that is why I am so sad because then if he was involve then he deserve it. But he is not involve any at all. But why is it that my son is getting charge when the right man is out here; they had the right man in custody and they just end up charging my son. I don't understand that."

Police say they know who they are looking for but have not tracked down all of those persons yet.
