It was a great show, with high production standards, and over a dozen performers it did entertain. But in the end, there could only be one winner and that was Tanya Carter. She told us how she embraced soca.....

"I have to win, that was what I was thinking about, I mean I wasn't going to take Berne or Ernestine likely at all because they are veterans just like me so I had to go in and reach for anything that I had and just dance and did my best. I had to bring out the soca-ness if that is a word, I definitely had to get classes to learn how to dance; I am not afraid to say it, I had to go to get choreographer and she had to show me how to get out the inner gyration and sexy-on and stuff like that, so it really came in handy for me because it became natural on stage as I went up there."

Carter took home three thousand dollars for her song. Ernestine Carballo was second.

Silas Sabal won the patriotic song competition.
