A shooting on Far West Street last night has left a 19 year old man hospitalized. He is identified as Derrick Plunkett. It happened about 10 o'clock last night. Plunkett was hanging out with three other young men in a yard when two men rode up on separate bicycles - stopped in front of the yard - and fired several shots hitting him in his lower left arm, both his thighs, his lower back and left shoulder. Neighbors told us they heard about 6 gunshots. As this cell phone footage shows, Plunkett was bundled into the back of a police vehicle, which pulled up shortly after.
Today he is critical but stable at the KHMH. The other three men in the yard all escaped unhurt. So far police have no one detained and say they are investigating.
Neighbors say they are terrified because the area had calmed down for the past two years but it's become very hot again.
