We could give you the standard intro for our next story - or we could just tell you that it features the street character known as Easy Glenn in a guayabera hosting a semi-official press conference - and you'd probably be hooked right there.
But to at least provide some context, today the "Keep Belize Clean Committee" along with the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Health held a press conference to talk about their massive dengue clean up campaign which has already kicked off.
As a part of the project the President of the committee - no other than Easy Glen - says 10 underprivileged youths have been hired for the eradication of breeding areas, cleaning and spraying of drains and garbage removal:....

"I am asking the general public for their cooperation in letting the men that will go in your yards to take out the garbage. What you don't want out of your yard, they are not going to take out. Basically the ministry of health will have their survey team which will be testing the water and different things. This program is about opportunity, I can't say that the youths are lazy and we don't create opportunity, so this is what we are creating; the KBC Committee will be creating opportunities. Down the road the committee will sit again, therefore the vice president or the councilor himself will be taking trips to the prison once every 2 weeks when they have to pass their IDs they will be taking trips down to the prison because the prison is also a place that is a concern especially when it comes to health and something detrimental to your health. So we will be in the prison, we will talk about crime and violence but if don't start to deal with the youths; its lie we are re-cycling criminal. The training will be starting from the ministry of health as from Monday with Mr. Bernard, but they had gone through their training, their screening and the public relation training with the vice president in person; how to address and talk to people and so forth, he screens them properly so that we don't send anybody out there which is like flight-risk. Basically KBC committee is not an organization that just pop up out of the blue, we have been a committee which has been standing a long time on their own, now we ask the assistant of the general public and also the ministers for this to start to happen. The 5 guys that you can see, there are some others outside with orange cap and eradication shirt are getting sponsored by the general public. I have to thank Mr. Salvador Habet as well and the ministry of health that took this initiative to hire 20 youths."
The Clean up campaign will go on for the next 3 months.
