posted (August 25, 2010)
Two days ago, 27 year old Anthony Sabido was celebrating an acquittal of robbery, but in a twist of fate, he was found guilty today for the firearm and ammunition he used to commit the alleged robbery. Sabido was sentenced to 2 years for the firearm, a pump action 12 guage shotgun, and 2 years for two 12 gauge cartridges. Magistrate Ed Usher who imposed the sentences stipulated that they run concurrently.

The incident occurred on June 2nd, 2009 near Belize Electricity Limited on the Northern highway. The police received information of a robbery in progress and when they arrived at the scene they saw Sabido with a pump action 12 gauge shotgun pointed at the chest of Triple A security guard, Isaac Samuels. Sabido was shot in his leg when the police apprehended him.

Sabido and two others, Derrick Munnings and Jason Wade were charged with robbery in connection with a .38 revolver which was stolen from Samuels. The three were acquitted last Thursday when Samuels failed to appear in court to testify.

That same day, Sabido pleaded guilty to possession of 2.9 grams of cannabis which was handed to him as he left the court room and was fined Two hundred dollars. He is also facing a charge for attempted murder in an incident in which he allegedly shot Wade who was his alleged accomplice in the robbery.
