The Travails Of Bejohn and Devon
posted (August 30, 2010)
Two persons, 25 year old Bejohn Martinez and 18 year old Devon Bailey were acquitted of 2 counts of robbery today in connection with an incident which occurred on February 15th 2009, at Diamond Motel, located at mile four and a half on the northern highway.

Court #7 Magistrate Ed Usher acquitted them after he upheld a no case to answer submission from their attorney Senior Counsel Dean Lindo.

After the prosecution closed its case Lindo submitted that his clients didn't have a case to answer to because the evidence of identification was weak.

He submitted that no identification parade was held and none of the defendants were positively identified by the complainants, the receptionist Rosaria Vasquez and Mrs. Chuing Hsia Yeh, the owner of the motel.

A third person, 28 year old Kareem Flowers, was charged jointly with Martinez and Bailey but the charges were withdrawn from him after he named Martinez and Bailey as the other two suspects.

Police Sergeant Tyrone Bradley who was the investigating officer, testified that he found marijuana when he searched a white pick-up truck and he told Flowers that no charge will be made against him for the marijuana if he revealed who were the other persons involved in the robbery.

Vasquez was robbed of $1,500, 3 gold rings and one gold chain. Mrs. Yeh was robbed of one gold ring. The culprits made their getaway in a white pick-up truck.
