Burned by Broaster
posted (August 30, 2010)
Last week we ran a story in which Superintendent of Police Edward Broaster told us that 21 year old Jermaine Elijio was scalded with hot water while he tried to run out of a home he had burglarized.

But today Seven News spoke with Jermaine Elijio who told us that Broaster is lying because the burns were no accident and that Broaster said he would kill him if he talked about what happened.:.....

Jermaine Elijio
"Mr. Broaster and 4 more police approach me and just pick up me for no reason and put me in the truck and carry through a dead end and say that a burglary is happening and just took me in the house without telling me anything that was happening. He handcuff me and just beat me up; he had water boiling and when he finish beating me he throw the water on me, I am begging him not to throw that water on me, but he did. Broaster told me that if he sees me on the streets, he will kill me. Then before that he threatens me that if I tell the media that he had done this to me he will kill me."

In last week's story Broaster said that Elijio was found with a cellphone and a tape recorder, but Elijio said that he didn't know anything about a burglary. He also said that he hasn't had any run-ins with the police before this incident. Elijio says he was released on Saturday August 28th but wasn't charged.
