National Campaign Manager, Et Tu “Lucas”?
posted (September 2, 2010)
It's 11 days to go before September 13th. - which is the deadline for those who want to vie for seats on the PUP executive to submit their names - and already, the jockeying for positioning has commenced.

There are some interesting names being thrown around, most interestingly, Luke Espat's. He's the sometimes controversial, always outspoken owner of the Port Of Belize. Reports to our newsroom suggest that Espat is offering himself for national campaign manager of the PUP. That's the purse-string post, formerly and famously held by Ralph Fonseca and presently by Eamon Courtenay.

Espat was cryptic today when we asked him about it today; he said "whatever I do, I will do before September 13th." But he refused to discuss what he will do, or even that he will do anything.

But 7news has heard that letters of endorsement for him as National Campaign manager have already been penned and that he is actively lobbying for support.

Current National Campaign Manager Eamon Courtenay did not comment.

Officially, all we could find out from the party is that no one has formally written to the chairman with any application for any post as yet.

With the names we've heard being bantered about and the appearance that all posts - except leader - are up for grabs, developments in the coming days should prove interesting and we'll keep monitoring them.
