Near Miss For A 20 Year Old; His Father Worries
posted (September 3, 2010)
This evening a 20 year old is at a relative's home recovering after he narrowly escaped death last night. Darren Morgan of Western Pines Community at Mile 8 and a half was driving his Ford Explorer at the Eastern end of Amara Avenue near Saint John's Anglican Primary School at 11:50 last night when a gunman rode up from behind on a bicycle and fired several shots through the windshield on the driver's side. Morgan was hit to the left shoulder and the bullet exited through his right shoulder, passing across his chest without damaging any internal organ.

It's a miracle that he survived and while he is at home recovering tonight, his father is gravely worried. And right that he should because Albert Morgan Sr. has gone through a whole lot in the past10 months. First, his son Albert Juniour was killed by his wife in December of last year and then his wife and three grandchildren drowned in April of this year.

And so today, he was grateful, but still worried.

Albert Morgan Sr., Father
"He said that he was coming from work but when he get to the place where he was staying there was nothing there to eat so he went back to buy some food and this lone gun man pass him on a bicycle and just started to shoot up his vehicle. He was shot in the chest. I further ask him if he has anything with anybody that he can remember and that he has any problem. He told me that he can't remember have any problem with anybody. So I tell him that God is great; God always looks after innocent people. If he doesn't have anything with anybody then I don't see why this problem comes up. It still bothers me because just in December I lost my son and in April I lost my wife and my grand children and the now this. Those things happen within months apart."

"How hard it is for you?"

Albert Morgan Sr., Father
"Terrible. I can't imagine. I still don't know what to say. All I can do is pray for me and my kids for us to live a natural life and straight path in the world. A lot of us don't understand, everybody looks at this thing and say that I am bad luck. I think this a lesson not only for me but for all of us. From the time my wife died, I tell people that this is a lesson for everybody. You can't take any chance and you can't take things for granted because you don't know what will happen at the end of the day."

Police have not made any arrests or detentions.
