Student Pleads Guilty

Nineteen year old Emerson Faber, a high school student who attempted to rob another student, 15 year Khambrel Blease, was spared a custodial sentence when he appeared today in #8 Magistrate's Court and pleaded guilty to attempted robbery Because Faber has no previous conviction Magistrate Linden Flowers fined him $2,500 instead of sending him to prison. Faber has until November 15 to pay the fine. If he defaults on payment he will serve 18 months.

The incident occurred around 2:30 on Saturday August 21. Blease reported to the police that he was walking on Fairweather Street going towards the bridge when he was approached by Faber who was riding a beach cruiser bicycle.

Blease said Faber and grabbed for his SONY PSP video game he had in his right hand, but missed. Blease said he turned around and ran and Faber began to pursue him. Blease said Faber gave up the pursuit when he, Blease, stopped and began talking to a man.

Faber was detained by the police on Tuesday August 31st. Yesterday he was positively identified by Blease in an identification parade.
