Police believe that the pair Abel Mendez was chasing when he was shot had just robbed a women. And before that 0-t he cops believe - they had just held up Safeway drug store.
Last night at 7:20 p.m police responded to a call of a robbery in progress at Safe Way Drug Store located at the corner of Ebony Street and Central American Boulevard. Sales Clerk Daniuska Larios and Pharmacist Shadyah EL-Amin told police that they were attending to customers when two men entered and robbed them. One of the men who had his face partially covered with a black rag armed with a black and silver hand gun and the other who wore a ski mask over his face, ordered everyone including the two unarmed security guards to lie on the floor.
The man without the gun then went to the cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money but not before taking the personal documents of two customers after which they fled the scene.
