Caught at Queen Square

50 year old market vendor - Concepcion Guardado - reported to police that about 7:30 this morning while at his stall at the temporary Queen Square Market - 18 year old Andrew Talbert -a resident of Allenby Street - approached him and took out a sawed off shotgun from his pants. Talbert then cranked the gun and tried to point it at him - that was when Guardado grabbed his hand and a struggle begun. Talbert lost control and ran off through the main entrance of the market- but that wasn't the end of that story. Inspector Hilberto Romero -who is presently attached to the Crimes Branch was in the area when he saw Talbert running out of the market entrance with a sawed off shotgun in his hand. He wasn't running a lone - in fact he was being chased by a crowd of venders. Inspector Romero charged after the teenager that was when he Talbert threw the sawed off shot gun near a Chinese Store of Cemetry Road and continued running. The Inspector along with assisted by another Police Officer managed to catch up with Talbert at an upstairs building near the market. The officers then escorted him back to where he threw the gun. Andrew Talbert admitted to police that he had indeed went to rob Guardado and he was running away. Andrew Talbert who also goes by the name Andrew Reyes - is tonight detained pending charges.
