Two teenagers Killed In Remote Reaches of OW

Two minors were killed in the Orange Walk District yesterday. It happened in a small village in the western part of the district where the killers were eight armed men wearing camouflage outfits and looking for a marijuana field. The victims were two teenaged boys.

Details are still sketchy as to what exactly happened behind this private ranch which is located in San Carlos Village in the Orange District. But what we know is 2 minors were shot dead.

In the area working at the time were the two minors - Wilson Perez and Rudy Interiano along with 42 year old Damacio Pop. Pop who is the only survivor was beaten and chopped and left to die. 3 of his fingers were chopped off. He told police - they were working in the area - when 5 men came up to them - all fully dressed in camouflage clothing with mask over their heads and armed with rifles.

"Sometime shortly after 4 yesterday police responded to a report to an apparent shooting some 3.5 miles south west of San Carlos Village where upon 1 person was located who made a report to the police that sometime shortly after 3 himself along with 2 companions were doing some work in the area and was approach by 5 men dress in camouflage clothing. The men proceeded to question them thereafter shirts were pull over their heads where the elder of the 3 persons Damacio Pop receive several injuries to his left hand. The other 2 persons were not located until sometime shortly before 10 this morning were they were both located with gunshot wounds to the back of their heads. They have since been transported to the northern regional hospital where they were pronounce dead on arrival."

From what we understand - the men begun beating the 3 workers - asking them about a marijuana field.

Today Elsa Perez - mother of 15 year old Wilson Perez is still trying to understand what went wrong yesterday. Why her 15 year old son was brutally murdered. According to Perez - her son has been working on this ranch for some time now - and yesterday there were laying down some post in the area.

"I don't know what happen, he was working at a ranch, he was just helping me out since his father died about a year now."

"So he went to work yesterday? What time?"

"He left about 6 o' clock in the morning from home on bike."

"Did you get a message or something? What was it?"

"Around 3 pm yes. They say that some shooting happen and they say that my son is dead."

This is the first time the village of San Carlos has experienced such a violent criminal act - and it has left this community in fear.

"Everybody is surprise what had happen. They did not get in any trouble, they were alright. They just go to work and come home."

Police would only say both victims are minors. Reports are that one was 15 and the other 16.

They become the fourth and fifth victims of mass murders in the Orange Walk district in 12 days.

In the other case 12 days ago, a mother and father of ten as well as their 14 year old son was killed.

Police have not established a link between both events. One persons has been detained in the September eighth murder.
