posted (September 20, 2010)
Eighteen year old Andrew Talbert, an unemployed of 79 Allenby Street who allegedly tried to rob a 50 year old market vendor Concepcion Guardado, was charged with four offences when he appeared in the # 2 Magistrate's Court.

Talbert was charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery, possession of prohibited firearm and possession of ammunition without a gun license.

Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the offences.

She remanded Talbert into custody until November 5th.

The incident occurred on September 16th at the Queen Square Market. Guardado reported to the police that Talbert approached him, took out a sawed-off shot gun, cranked it and tried to point it at him.

Guardado said there was a struggle between him and Talbert and Talbert ran. Police Inspector Hilberto Romero saw Talbert running with the shot gun in his hand being chased by a crowd of market vendors.

Romero pursued Talbert and saw him throw the firearm by a Chinese store on cemetery road. With the assistance of another police officer Romero apprehended Talbert and took him into custody.
