Kraal Road – Finally Something to Cheer About
posted (September 20, 2010)
Tonight the much maligned community of Kraal Road has reason and right to be proud - and that's because they are champions.

Yesterday City Boys United formerly Kraal Road, beat out Nizhee Corozal at the People's stadium In Orange Walk to claim the championship in The Belize Bank Super League Semi-Pro league as 2010 Champions. City Boys Manager, Raymond "Killa Gentle, visited us today and told us why this win on the national stage earned on neutral territory is significant for his hood:….

Raymond Gentle, Manager City Boys United
"This is the 4th season we are a part of Belize Bank super league and for the past 3 years we came in 3rd and this is our 4th season and we really felt like we deserve a championship so we went out there and work for it. We feel like the Belize City on a whole deserves a championship. We just went out there and do it for the city."

Andrea Polanco
"This team comes from Kraal Road area. you know that a lot of people have a negative image of that area. What does this win mean for that community?"

Raymond Gentle, Manager City Boys United
"Well it means a lot because this football thing for the Kraal Road community is for the past 4-5 years. All those years it has never been recognize at all so right now we feel like we will be on the scene that Kraal Road is doing something positive in the community. We normally have more than one levels of football that we play; we even have the under 12 football team that participate as City Boys United. So any tournament that come up that we can participate in we willing to be a part of sports in our country because that is the way how we see it to bring youths together. That is our motive that we work on when it comes to unite. Everybody does their thing in their own way, our thing is sports."

The team won the championship cup, first place medals and twenty five thousand dollars, which Gentle says will be invested in the team to prepare for next year and to also, organize a small party for the fans and to help pay the players and staff of the team.
