Monica Bodden, Reporting
The lifeless body of Sherlock Syfox was seen by a passerby at the southern foreshore near Bellevue on Sunday morning at 6:00 am.

Police marked the area as a crime scene while curious onlookers gathered to see if it was someone familiar to them.

The 23 year old man was found partially decomposed - and police had to fish him out of the water.

On Friday night Syfox was last seen socializing at the Tipsy Corner Bar - which is located at the corner of Freetown Road and Douglas Jones Street. He was involved in an altercation with one of the employees of the establishment who accused him of stealing her cell phone. Today in an off camera interview with 7news his best friend who wishes to remain anonymous - told us he believes his friend was brutally murdered.

Friend of Sherlock Syfox
"We end up at the 2 bucket bar by the bridge and then we went to Tipsy Corner after that. When we get at Tipsy Corner one of the employees of Tipsy Corner accuse Sherlock of stealing a phone from her. They confront Sherlock about the phone and to my knowledge they told me that Sherlock took off and from he went I try to call him and don't get any answer from him. I see the Spanish girl and the next guy get in their vehicle and went in the direction that Sherlock ran and that was the last time I see him until when they told me that they find a body out by Bellevue. Later on we discover that it was his body. I believe that it is foul play because he won't go by the sea to swim by himself, He want wanted to go swimming it would have been all of us, he would not go by himself. So I believe that somebody maybe the vehicle got him, I believe they kidnap him and did that to him."

Monica Bodden
"So he was being chase that night by a vehicle?"

Friend of Sherlock Syfox
"Yes and he was highly intoxicated, so I don't know if he could have handle himself running."

Monica Bodden
"He is being accused of stealing a phone. You know anything about it?"

Friend of Sherlock Syfox
"I don't know about any phone. I don't see any phone; he didn't show me any phone. Probably he did thief the phone or probably not. The lady said that she has a witness that saw him took the phone. He didn't show me any phone and I didn't see any phone so I can't say if he took any phone."

Monica Bodden
"You think that might have been the cause of his death?"

Friend of Sherlock Syfox
"Strongly. That is what I strongly believe. I barely could recognize his face because it was all swollen up and they told me its because of the salt water, but I don't believe because the salt water would have swell up his whole body. His foot was not swollen only his upper body, mostly in his face and chest."

Monica Bodden
"So it might have look from your perspective that he might have been beaten up?"

Friend of Sherlock Syfox
"Yes. Somebody beat him or a group of person beat him or they do him something. I don't know how to think miss. I don't know what to say but it don't look like he drown. And I don't believe he will go swimming at those hours of the night under those kind of intoxication."

Lenina Bennett - Aunt
"Well I came this evening because I want to clear my nephew name because there are rumors going around saying that my nephew is a thief and he is not. He is in Belize for 10 months and they are trying to say that he is a deportee; yes he is a deportee but he is just a deportee being in America illegal, not doing any crime. I don't know why he died and all I could say is that he is not what they are saying he is; he is not a criminal, he works, his mother sends him money from the US, so he doesn't need to thief, so the rumors that they are spreading; I would like them to stop it because he is not that type of person."

Monica Bodden
"You think he was murder?"

Lenina Bennett - Aunt
"I believe so because he is a very strong guy and it had to be that they chance him because when they found his body he didn't have on his clothing only his boxers, where is his shoes, his pants, his shirt? It had to be that somebody did him something wrong."

Police continue to investigate - but the post mortem result had not been finalized up to this evening.

WHEN WE CHECKED JUST A few minutes ago the results of the post mortem had still not been finalized ….
