posted (September 27, 2010)
On Thursday we showed the footage of an arrest as police apprehended the man who allegedly stole a .38 pistol from twenty seven year old Triple A Security Guard Paul Valerio at Belize Medical Associates Clinic on Regent Street.

Well, that man is twenty six year old Bryant Gentle Jr, one of two robbers involved in the incident.

Gentle was charged with robbery and wounding when he appeared today in the #8 Magistrate's Court. He was also charged with possession of firearm ammunition without a gun license. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Emmerson Banner explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the offences. He remanded Gentle into custody until October 27.

The incident happened around 1:50 p.m that Thursday September 23. Valerio reported to the police that he was on duty at the clinic when two men, one of dark complexion and the other of fair complexion entered. Valerio said the men headed for the receptionist area then suddenly turned towards him. He said one of the men put a knife to his throat and the other put a knife to his side.

A struggle then followed between them during which he was stabbed and his .38 pistol with five rounds of ammunition was stolen.

Fortunately police Constable Reginald Diego who was in the area responded quickly to the reports of the robbery and saw Gentle walking on Regent Street with a .38 in his left hand and knife in his right hand.

Diego said he ordered Gentle to stop and put up his hands. A chase ensued unto chapel lane where Gentle put the gun in a hat and threw it into an empty lot.

The gun was retrieved and it was identified by Valerio as the one that was issued to him by Triple A Security Limited. The second man involved in the robbery is still at large.
