posted (September 28, 2010)
A man who allegedly attempted to burn down a house in Lord's Bank was charged with attempted arson when he appeared today in the #6 Magistrate's Court.

He is 35 year old Sergio Guerra, a truck driver residing in Orange Walk.

Guerra was also charged with aggravated assault and use of threatening words. He was offered a bail of three thousand dollars which he met, and his case was adjourned until November 8. The incident occurred on September 10.

Guerra's wife, Rosibel, reported to the police that at about 5:45p.m Guerra came to her house in Lord's Bank and threatened to kill her.

She said Guerra also attacked her with a piece of two by four lumber and tried to hit her with it. She told police that Guerra left and returned around 8:15 p.m. This time Guerra, she said, disconnected the hose for the butane gas tank and attempted to ignite the butane gas with a cigarette lighter. She managed to prevent him from doing so by turning off the valve.
