Another Fruit Vendor Shot, This One Not Fatal
posted (October 7, 2010)
At the top of the newscast we told you about a fruit vendor who was killed early this morning. And by 11:00 am, another vendor had been shot - fortunately this time it was not fatal. The vendor 26 year old Marvin Nunez was shot in the arm as he was selling fruits at the west end of Faber's Road extension near Whistling Duck street. He was riding his bicycle cart when he was approached by two men, one of them armed with a firearm. Nunez was shot in his left upper arm. Both men then jumped in a dark color car that was parked nearby and the car drove off in the direction of Krooman Rd.

He ran into the street and that's where an area resident saw him. Fearing for her safety, she asked to appear off camera, but told us she was shocked to see the man she regularly buys fresh fruits from, walking wounded on Faber's Road.

Voice of Area Resident
"When I came just a while ago to buy at the shop, I saw the guy bleeding from his hand, he got shot in his hand and I ask him if he wants to go to the hospital ad he said yes so I took him. Going on the way he changed his mind and says that he wants to go home."

Jules Vasquez
"He is someone you buy from regularly?"

Voice of Area Resident
"Yes I buy from him regularly but I didn't expect something like this would happen, I mean I guess everyone around here knows him."

Jules Vasquez
"Did he say that they were trying to rob him?"

Voice of Area Resident
"Yes he said that they were trying to rob him. He said that they didn't get anything, so I am not sure. This is so terrible in this country; I mean we are just a small country for this to happen. Why don't we just get together and live as one. We have to fuss and fight for what? I don't see the reason why."

According to police, Nunez was transported to the KHMH where he was treated and released. Police also report that the men robbed him of his cell phone and $20.00 bcy.
