Tile Palace Robber Not Properly Identified
posted (October 7, 2010)
In January we told you about a frightening armed robbery at Tile Palace in Belize City where a shot was fired at the manager who fought off the thieves with his bare hands.

Well, police caught the alleged culprit Twenty two year old Marlon Ysaguire who was charged with 2 counts of attempted robbery.

But he was acquitted of the charges today in Magistrate Court. Magistrate Adolph Lucas ruled that the identification parade was unfair to Ysagurie because he was the only person in the lineup who had a tattoo under his right eye. He cited the appeal of Albert Guy who was convicted of rape but was acquitted by Belize Court of Appeal because the identification parade was not fair to him. Ysagurie gave a statement from the dock in which he said he was at a funeral at the time the incident occurred. But although Ysagurie was acquitted he was not freed because he is serving 1 year for nonpayment of court fines.
