Murders In Belmopan and Independence
posted (October 12, 2010)
Around three o'clock on Friday afternoon - 44 year old Francisco Villanueva was found dead by his family near his farm on the Rowing River Road in the Belmopan area. The lower half of his body was burnt and he was seen with apparent gunshot wounds to the face, neck and left shoulder. A postmortem was conducted late this evening which stated that Villanueva died due to gunshot wounds. He had last been seen leaving home that morning.

At this time, police have no suspects.

It is much the same for a case down south. About a month ago, he was released from custody when charges of Carnal Knowledge and Rape were struck out against him in Dangriga Magistrate Court.

But forty two year old Galeas Montoya, a Honduran labourer of Bella Vista Village, didn't get to enjoy that freedom for long. Around 8:50 on Friday morning Independence police visited an area on Red Bank Road where they saw Montoya's lifeless body with a cut wound above the right eyebrow, and another to right side of the head and had a thin double nylon rope tied around the neck.
