Shooting Victim Dies
posted (October 15, 2010)
In yesterday's newscast we reported on 25 year old Steve Parks who was shot to the back of his head while waiting for food in front of Favorite's Store in the St Martins area.

He was given a thirty percent chance of survival by doctors and had to undergo two major surgeries yesterday. And even though his family hung unto hope - it wasn't enough. Parks succumbed to his injuries around 10 o'clock last night in the operating theater- while undergoing his second surgery. His sister spoke to Monica Bodden.

Pamela Beard - Sister
"We were there in the waiting room awaiting his surgery because he underwent surgery yesterday and they came out and were giving us different updates, telling us he was doing well because he had to perform 2 surgeries; the first one went well and when they had to go and do the other one that was where everything went wrong and his pressure started to drop and he just succumbed to his injury. When I was looking at the cat scans yesterday because the doctor did 3 cat scans and he showed me where the bullet entered, where it burst thru a wall in the brain, I mean I was just praying, I still kept my hope all the way until the end but I guess that is God's will, you cannot cheat your destiny."

Charlette Parks, Sister
"I don't know how to tell you how I am feeling. He was my little brother and I love him and I don't care what happened, I still love him. Bit whosoever do him that they will pay, all I got to say is that they will pay."

Monica Bodden
"What is the police saying so far?"

Pamela Beard - Sister
"When I visited them this morning they told me that they have a name but they weren't releasing the name because it's just a name that given to them by a witness and that's what they told me basically this morning."

Police continue to investigate the murder of Steve Parks. So far no one has been detained for questioning. Parks who was an employee of the Belize Flour Mill - leaves behind his 5 year old son.
