Gabriel Salazar, No Charge

Earlier this week, twenty three year old Gabriel Salazar was flown in as a Belize's most wanted but tonight - in an incredible turn of events - the Cayo Star newspaper is reporting that he is he is no longer wanted in connection with the Spanish Lookout robbery and murder.

Salazar has been saying that he is not guilty of any of the crimes he is accused of because he was never in Belize when the crimes were committed. To back up his word Salazar said that his passport shows he has been living in Honduras since last year.

Salazar, who was wanted by the police, was said to be on the run because it was alleged that he was involved in the murderous March bank robbery. He had been in the custody of San Ignacio Police since Wednesday - we were told - pending charges.

But according to the Star newspaper, The Director of Public Prosecutions Office ordered that no charge is to be carried out against him. The DPP's office says that this is so because there is no concrete evidence that ties Salazar to the robbery and murder in March where three hundred thousand dollars were stolen and security guard, Steven Lopez was killed. As a result Salazar was released by the San Ignacio police, but he wasn't free. Instead he was transferred into the custody of Punta Gorda Police where he is wanted in connection with the murder of Francis Johnston which happened in September of last
