Jury: Killer Guilty, Not Of Murder, But Manslaughter

A jury of 7 women and 5 men deliberated for about four and a half hours today in the court of Justice Herbert Lord before it found thirty four year old Ted Armstrong not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of Jerome "Jazze" Longsworth which occurred on July 14th 2006 in Hattieville.

Justice Lord has deferred sentencing until Friday, October 29.

Longsworth was stabbed in his neck with a scissors when he got in the middle of a fight between Ted Armstrong and his sister, Rosita Armstrong who was Longsworth's girlfriend.

Ted Armstrong did not testify or give a statement from the dock. He chose to remain silent. The prosecution was represented by Crown Counsel Christelle Wilson. It was her last appearance as a Crown Counsel as she is no longer working at the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
