A ten year old boy was shot last night on Antelope Extension. Marcus Swaso along with his friend was returning home from playing basketball - when a black van drove by and started firing shots in the area - likely at an adult who was in the area. The little boy was hit in his foot and his friend was grazed to the head. That's just a few inches between life and death and today Seven News caught up with his aunt who told us what her nephew said happened.

"Last night we were right here my sister was already sleeping and we heard gunshots so I ran on the street side where I saw a lot of people. So all what I did was told my niece that I heard gunshots."

"How much shots you heard?"
Patricia Sutherland, Aunt
"I heard about 4 or 5 and when I was running my nephew met me and told me that Marcos got shot and when we reach they had already took him to the hospital. He got shot in his foot."

"Where was Marcos coming from?"
Patricia Sutherland, Aunt
"He was coming from Gwen Liz from playing ball. All he told that he vision the bullet coming. He grab his little brother and he ran. He then jump on one his friend because he said he envision the bullet coming, but the bullet hit him in his foot."

"Did Marcos mention anything? if it was a person on bike or a vehicle?"

"He told me that the person who fired the shot was in a vehicle. When I ran I piss myself and when I reach the hospital I told the nurse that I piss myself. It is because I got frightened. "

"How scary was that for you last night?"
Patricia Sutherland, Aunt
"It makes us feel bad. We barely sleep. Because we are not even sure where we are in Belize. They are shooting people; you see how that 8 yr. old little died? then you see what happen here again."
Another person was also shot. He is identified as 26 year old Michael Ham Young. Young who was more likely the target has a long list of run-ins with the law - was shot in the back.
