posted (October 26, 2010)
Since the storm hit, we've shown you homes that were damaged by the storm - and most of them didn't have insurance. Tonight those folks are understandably impatient waiting for assistance from the government.

But what about those who had insurance? Well the ICB's Deputy CEO Dufy Nunez, told us what step can be taken by claimants:

Dufy Nunez, Deputy CEO - ICB
"What we are asking people to do right now is to either come in to our offices if possible, at that point we will ask them to fill out a form; we call it the proof of claim form and from there we have several people on the field that are doing inspections thought-out the day and throughout the week in necessary."

Andrea Polanco
"So after they have completed the form they bring it back here to ICB. How long can they expect to be receiving compensation?"

Dufy Nunez, Deputy CEO - ICB
"Especially with people that their homes have been damage we are expecting to settle within a couple of weeks for more emergency cases we actually will be settling claims on the spot."

Andrea Polanco
"What all are they liable to claim for?"

Dufy Nunez, Deputy CEO - ICB
"It depends on the policy that they have taken out. In this case it will probably be a lot of flood claims and of course structural damages as well. Some of our comprehensive holders also enjoy the privilege of their cars being covered. We do understand that a few vehicles were completely submerge and those people as well can come in and do claims as well for comprehensive vehicle. We want to reassure our policy holders that we definitely will be taken care of them as fast as possible. we want to remind them that we have branches countrywide - 16 branches, they can go in to any one of those representatives and file a claim if not they could call our head office and we have people working all day and all week to settle these claims efficiently."

The ICB called late this evening to confirm that since being out in the field conducting site inspections Residents have been paid out for claims of damaged contents right away.
