HealthCare Partners Partners Up

As we told you earlier, relief started to pour into the Yabra Community today - due in no small part to last night's newscast which put on the media's front street what's been happening on all those beleaguered back streets.

Among the first to respond directly was Belize Health Care Partners - which sent a team into the area this morning with rations of food and water.

Englebert Perrera is the hospital's finance director and he was the man handing out bags today:….

"We are doing a community outreach, we are bringing food basket, and we have over 200 baskets, around 3000 items and around 1000 bags of water. We are here to assist people and people in the area need assistance, it's not that they want assistance; they need assistance right now. What we are doing is just the icing of the cake, government needs to move. We hope that other businesses come out and support because people need help out here. When we came a couple days back we were doing a walk through from the bride to ESSO, we saw where people need help and that is what we are doing. We check to see how many families were in each house and at Yabra bridge there were 8 families and we gave away 8 bags."

We note that while all help is welcome and will be used, we did observe some duplication of efforts as some of the same people collecting the small potions form Herrera were also on the Human Development list….
