Spanish Flight Attendant Found Dead
posted (November 2, 2010)
Last night we told you about the concerns for missing Maya Island Regional flight Attendant Maria Antonia Plaza Gomez who disappeared on San Pedro.

Well this evening, the worst fears were confirmed as what is believed to be the body of the 37 year old Spaniard was found dead in some bushes in a part of the island town known as the Southern airstrip Area.

The body was found hidden under a verandah stuffed in some bushes. The specific area is off an alley that connects coconut drive and the beach side near to a bar called "Crazy Canuck".

Foul play is suspected and a post mortem was being conducted onsite this evening.

Police believe she was killed sometime on Sunday 31st October after 10:00 in the morning which is when she was last seen. Here's the sequence of events:

She arrived in San Pedro on Friday the 29th October and registered as a guest at Hotel Corona Del Mar. She was seen Sunday 31st October, at 7:26am having breakfast in the same hotel dressed in a white blouse and ¾ pants. From there she went to the San Pedro Airstrip to check in for her flight from San Pedro back to the Phillip Goldson International - where she would then reconnect with the Maya Island Regional Flight back to Guatemala. That was around 10:00 am. But she never turned up for that flight and at 7:00 on Sunday night when she did not show up for the Maya Island Regional flight to Guatemala she was reported missing.

Again, the body is still in the area where it was found on San Pedro as a post mortem is being conducted at this hour. We'll have more on this story tomorrow….
