There is also some mystery and a great deal of outrage surrounding the death of a four year old girl in Roaring Creek Village.
Her name is Hidalia Jomany Maldonado and she died mysteriously on Friday October 29th. Her mother gave police a statement saying that she had fallen down the stairs at this home and then she was beaten for it.
But a post mortem conducted yesterday showed that recent beating was not the cause of death. In fact, it's worse than that. The cause of death was a history of abuse. The official finding of the post mortem is that the cause of death is Acute Thrombosis of the heart due to sepsis, chest and abdominal trauma due to battered child syndrome.
The finding suggests that she had been beaten so badly, for so long that she eventually succumbed to the cumulative physical trauma of her injuries.
Police are looking closely at the case, but are waiting on instructions from the DPP on what charges can be brought.
There are reports from the community that the child had suffered a particularly vicious beating earlier in the week at the hands of her step-father but police have no independent corroboration of this.
