Near Simultaneous Shooting Deaths In City

And while the drugs are now mostly out of the picture - the epidemic of violent gun crime in the city continues -as there were two more murders over the holiday weekend - the 114th and 115th. murders for the year.

The first occurred on Friday afternoon on Dean Street between Regent and Albert Streets - which is a stone's throw away from our 7news headquarters.

Reports from the neighborhood are that 48 year old Michael Morgan was riding a bike up to another man as if he was going to meet him. But then the man who was waiting opened fire on him hitting him to the back of the left ear, front upper chest and to the right side of the upper back.

As this amateur video shows, Morgan was laid out on the street gasping for breath - and just as police were about to cart him away a BERT ambulance came and transported him to the K.H.M.H. He was alive but died while undergoing surgery. Police have a different account from what we were told: they say Morgan was digging in some garbage when the man came up and shot him.

Both accounts, however, do agree that the gunman ran away West on Dean Street, through chapel Lane into Wagner's Lane. Earlier in the morning, two shots were heard on Dean Street.

Morgan's family refused to talk today saying that they are scared because since the shooting they have seen strange people passing by their house and watching it. They say Michael Morgan had been in trouble before and it may have been an old beef. They had no picture of him…
