Chinese Remanded For Single Shotgun Round
posted (November 22, 2010)
And while those Chinese business owners were victims of gun theft - a trio of Chinese restaurateurs have been remanded for possession of ammunition.

Forty-eight year old Chinese restaurant owner Ziquan Tan and two of his nephews, 22 year old Jin Rong Wang and his brother Jin Hua Wong, were charged with kept ammunition without a gun license when they appeared today in the #2 Magistrate's Court.

They pleaded not guilty.

According to a report, one of the brothers, Jin Rong Wang, said he found a 12 gauge cartridge on the street and kept it as souvenir.

Well it turns out to be a costly souvenir as Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser explained to them that the court can't offer bail because of the nature of the offence - even for that single round.

With that, she remanded them into custody until December 21. The incident happened around 6:45 a.m on Saturday, November 20.

The police reported that they executed a search warrant at #3 Lakeview Street, the business place and residence of the Wang brothers, and they found a 12 gauge cartridge on a shelf in the bathroom.

Besides the Wong brothers, their Uncle Tan, who owns a restaurant at 107 Cemetery Road, was present at the time of the search.
