Police have taken two unlicensed weapons out of circulation. The first gun seizure happened on Saturday after when police on patrol at mile 36 on the old northern highway saw a Spanish man on a bicycle throw a sack into a pond, jump off the bike and dash into a house. Police unearthed the sack which contained a shotgun and charged 20 year old Melvin Espino of Santana Village for kept a firearm without a gun license.
And back in Belize city on Saturday morning, police searched a home on Jane Usher Boulevard where they found a .357 revolver - which is prohibited firearm. No one was in the home - and the firearm was labeled as found property.
