posted (December 14, 2010)
Tonight, Peter King Contreras at the Ladyville police station awaiting arraignment for murder; he will be charged this week for one of the most bizarre and disturbing cases of murder we've seen in recent times.

King Contreras was caught by police early this morning driving around with his mother in law in the car - only thing is she was dead! And he confessed to police then and there that he had killed her hours earlier!

Like we said, a crazy story - and Monica Bodden has been filling in the blanks. Here's her report:…

Monica Bodden Reporting
Peter Contreras - the man who hours earlier confessed to police about killing his mother-in-law- was at the morgue this afternoon.

This white sheet was draped on the glass door of the morgue - by police - to conceal his identity.

But at some point the alleged murderer did have to come out - he was in hand cuffs and escorted by police…into a police pickup truck that was parked inside the morgue's compound.

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"According to police, I am telling you I don't really know. They have an argument and then he just choke my mom, but it seems like they had a big thing because she had blood under her nails and the side of her arm is peel, I dint know if he did it to her or if he had to drag her out of the vehicle to carry her back in the truck. I don't know."

Monica Bodden
"You know if he used a rope?"

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"I don't know but according to police it seems that yes he did and he said to one of the police, I can't recall whom that all the while he wants to kill me and he was going to do it but because of what my mom told him that I have somebody and he don't worth it anymore or something like that, I don't really know exactly. That's why he got aggressive."

Around 4:20 this morning, police were conducting routine patrols - While approaching the airport junction - they noticed this blue Isuzu Trooper coming out from the airport road under high speed.

They intercepted the vehicle - which was driven by Peter Contreras. Little did police know that the body of 50 year old Argentina Garcia was lying on the back seat of the vehicle - wrapped up in a white sheet.

Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"This person did not even stop and acknowledge the right away which would have been for the police into the highway heading towards Belize City. The police signal the driver of that vehicle to pull over which he comply with, upon approach the police inform him that they were going to conduct a search, they ask him for his driver's license and he said that he forgot it at home. this kind of raise some suspicion by the police and they conducted a search on him and found some item belonging to a female on him, a further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a Hispanic female. This person was motionless, when a further search of the body reveals that there were some marks around the neck and in the chest area."

Contreras spontaneously confessed to police that he had killed his mother-in-law.

Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"He admitted to the police that she is his mother-in-law officer and something to the extent that he kills her and then he was cautioned. The body has been transported to Karl Heusner Memorial where a doctor pronounce her dead on arrival. We have this male detain pending the outcome of the investigations."

50 year old Argentina Garcia - who lives in Indian Church Village in the Orange Walk District -was in Ladyville yesterday to help her daughter with her 2 grand children.

Her daughter who was working for Contreras at his restaurant namely -Kings Cuisine- said she was preparing lunch when Contreras and her mother left the restaurant around 12 midday.

He was supposed to give Garcia a drop by the airport junction - so that she could have taken a bus back to Orange Walk.

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"He was suppose to and he never came back."

According to Garcia, she received a call from Contreras about 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. That was when Contreras told her that he had just knocked down a man and was hiding from the police.

Today Garcia told us she strongly believes her mother was murdered by her ex common law husband - sometime between 12 midday and 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"According to him he put a story that he knock down a person but apparently to police is that all the it seems that he kill my mom around 2 - 2:30 yesterday afternoon. All night he had my mom in the vehicle. I call about 4 o' clock to find out if my mom reach to Orange Walk already and my sister said no she was not in the bus. We thought that she never wanted to go home and she just stayed over night at Orange Walk not knowing this happen."

The couple has been separated for 2 months- after a 5 year relationship. They have two young children together. According to Garcia, it was a very abusive relationship.

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"Recently when I mention to him that I was going to leave him every time he get very aggressive and that's why I had to do what I did, I had to leave him because I fear for my life."

And since the ending to November, she had been receiving some of the most gruesome and explicit text messages - from an unfamiliar number.

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"This was at least like 15 days ago because the things start around the 29th of November and the thing is that he did bought a phone from BTL at the airport office and according to the people that works there only 2 SIM card was sold that day - one to him and one to another gentleman at the airport that I know. I haven't went to him to ask him what is his number but I don't this person will be running these kind of joke because he is age able. The way how the texts sounds it's like him, it's him because nobody knows personal things about me, my body and about my family, nobody knows that except him. The texts don't say anything about my mom; it's just about me and him. As a matter of fact the last text says that he will give me a chance if I go back to my family."

Garcia says despite her relationship with Contreras - she never saw this coming.

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"Not really, today is suppose to be 5 years if we were suppose with this relationship, 14 of December and like how I am telling you regardless of the problems we had we never saw this coming."

Monica Bodden
"He had any problems with your mom?"

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"Well no, it's just like a basic thing in mothers - they don't like their sons in law. He knew it but I recall we were talking and them I mention that my mom don't like him but it was like a surprise to him and he ask me if that was true and I told him that he know that my mom don't like him because if the way you treat me but the way how he react to it was like he didn't like it."

It was a bizarre scene this afternoon as Contreras was taken to the morgue - while his former common law wife and the daughter of the woman he just confessed to killing - was right there. The two were in the same small room with Angelina Garcia's corpse - and to say it was uncomfortable would be an understatement.

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"Actually when I reach at the Queen Street police station, we just wait for a while then after that they bring him - I told them before that I didn't want to see him, they told me that they will let ride at the back of the vehicle while i sit in the front of the vehicle, but to me still that was not appropriate because it's not like something you could handle just like that, so my bother call me and he told me he will take me to the morgue and have him go with the police because it's not really fair what the police did to me today because it's like they don't sympathize to nobody, in this case it's like so unfair."

Monica Bodden
"I saw you guys, actually he walk pass you at the morgue side by side."

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"Yeah and he said to one of the police that he wants to talk to me and explain to me. I don't know what he wants to explain?"

Monica Bodden
"He also mention to one of the police that it was you he wanted to kill."

Leslie Garcia - Daughter
"Yeah that's what he said that it's me he was after and because of what my mom told him, she was the one that got kill."

Contreras King and Garcia share a two year old daughter and a four year old son. He is expected to be arraigned later this week….
